Reflexology for Toddlers and Children.

Read about Reflexology for babies HERE.

A good indicator when to start using toddler reflex is when your baby is able to stand.

Children can benefit from reflexology. Childhood ailments such as asthma, chest infections, constipation, earache, the croup, eczema, tonsillitis, even temper tantrums can be alleviated with the support and help of regular reflexology treatments.

Children love reflexology and show the benefits of it very quickly. Infants and Children only need about a 20-minute treatment. Some parents have commented on how more relaxed their child is since they began getting reflexology and are sleeping straight through the night for up to 10 hours!

As a Toddler Reflex practitioner I offer parents the opportunity to learn special reflexology techniques to work with their toddler.

Every toddler is different. Some toddlers are very confident and will sit on my couch without mum or dad and other toddlers will sit on mum or dads lap. There is no long and fast rule with these little people. I adjust myself to suit them often sitting on the floor if that suits.

Are there any times when my toddler/child should not have reflexology?

If your child :
  • is more listless and paler than usual
  • has a fever
  • has trembling limbs
  • cries on being touched on body or having limbs moved
  • is breathless especially when drinking
  • has a rash
  • shows signs of a fit
  • has profuse sweating
  • has had any vaccines in the last 48 hours
  • is ‘not quite right’ in your opinion

In such cases please seek medical advice.

Hey Amanda..have a look at this. http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2011/12/05/143062378/whats-behind-a-temper-tantrum-scientists-deconstruct-the-screams Aromatherapy and reflexology combines these two very powerful therapies. Using both disciplines simultaneously, creates a dynamic treatment which; heals, balances and boosts. Whilst relieves discomfort and naturally triggers the body’s own healing process, aromatherapy has a powerful effect on an emotional and physical level. Reflexology can help parents help their babies, children and teenagers through the many little hurdles life throws at us all. From helping babies with colic and teething, starting a sleep regime and helping toddlers cope with tired tantrums to helping teenagers concentrate for exams and deal with hormonal ups and downs etc. Aromatherapy and reflexology can empower us with a total holistic tool that we can use throughout life to strengthen the immune system and soothe our emotions. Aromatherapy is a gentle, safe and effective therapeutic technique for a host of childhood ailments and disorders. Essential oils have brilliant healing properties and help regain and maintain health and well being. Working within a holistic frame work, aromatherapy helps provide everyday healthcare. Children are vulnerable, and require gentler and sometimes slightly different treatment from adults. Essential oils used for children are considerably more diluted. The health benefits of using aromatherapy are innumerable. A massage using essential oils yields wonderful advantages. Massaging is a lovely way for a parent and child to really connect with one another. Certain essential oils have a mildly sedative effect, and when added to the babies’ bath induces peaceful sleep. Myrtle mixed with Lavender is a gentle, effective and safe blend for children. Aromatherapy is nurturing and comforting, and promotes a sense of happiness, security and well being in children. It has a role to play in the physical, as well as psychological health of the child. Aromatherapy helps relieve fear, restlessness, impatience, stress, grumpiness and nervous energy, along with effectively treating cold, cough, sore throat, fever, skin ailments and sleeplessness. Build from there with the aromatherapy; Add maybe the history of both reflexology and aromatherapy and include any research. Add the different oils to benefit tantrums and the benefits of using them as a parent plus the guidelines in using the oils. Reflexology. What is Toddler Reflexology Therapy? Babies become Toddlers and find their feet. With this in mind working on the Toddler's hands is more effective. The routine, accompanied by nursery rhymes and lullabies only takes a few minutes to apply. Baby Reflex 4 Toddlers aims to: Encourage and develop the bonding between Parent and Toddler. Be relaxing, therefore promoting sleep, great before bed. Be calming, especially for those toddler tantrums! Support the body's defenses for toddler infections. Support and encourage digestion. Help with pain relief, e.g. when teething, when bumped or bruised temper tantrums. Support the developing body. You can add to this. Hope this may start something for you. Google the benefits of reflexology for toddlers. Describe what a tantrum is? Email me if you want any more information. Smiles Kay

A few little children are exceptionally certain and will sit on my sofa without mum or father and different babies will sit on mum or fathers lap. There is no long and quick lead with these little individuals.
